Khalid Gul

Dr. Khalid Gul is a Senior Researcher (Food Innovations) at the School of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China. He obtained his PhD degree in Processing and Food Engineering from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, India.



Dr Gul worked as an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at Islamic University of Science and Technology, India. He did his postdoctoral research at Gyeongsang National University, Jinju South Korea and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.



His research interest is focused on the applied research of food hydrocolloids, particularly those regarding the relationship between food structure, quality and nutrition. He is currently investigating structuring of polymeric hydrogels for applications in bionic meat.



He has over 30 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters in leading books. He was awarded a BK 21 Postdoctoral fellowship. He is an Editorial Board member for Food Packaging and Shelf Life, an Elsevier science journal.
